This abandoned mine already has makings of a tourist attraction with its miniature railway and a pair of vertical drop coasters.
Canary Mines is a park filled with many hills and vertical faces. Two great racing/dueling Vertical Roller Coasters, the Zygorators, occupy the center of the park & provide a nice amount of profit. Another park that is good to practice building underground rides.
Note: When either of the coasters break down, the game will warn the playerrs about the trains being stuck. This happens due how both of the coasters start. To prevent that, after the one that broke down is fixed, players can pause the game and click on the red button on the coaster's screen twice, then open and resume the game. It can be prevented by editing the ride so that departures no longer are synchronized.
This scenario is glitched in the GOG version of the RCT1 game. Only the first 3 rides created will properly display test results. Every ride after that will not display excitement, intensity, and nausea results. It is therefore advised to build three roller coasters first before switching solely to gentle and thrill rides. Guests will rarely ride roller coasters without the test results showing.
Real life miners brought canaries into coal mines to warn them of toxic gases, (i.e. methane or excessive carbon dioxide). As the birds are more sensitive to gases than humans, they usually become sick first, leaving miners enough time to escape.
The names of the Vertical Drop Roller Coasters seem to derivate from the zygomatic muscles located above the maxillar bones of the same name, and who serve as generators for the facial movements of mastication, smiling & expressing sadness.
This is the first scenario in the series to completely exclude the series' signature Gentle Ride, the Merry-Go-Round.
