This article is about the roller coaster type introduced in the original RollerCoaster Tycoon. For the RMC-based Single Rail Roller Coaster introduced in OpenRCT2, please see Single Rail Roller Coaster.

The Steeplechase is a roller coaster type first seen in the original RollerCoaster Tycoon, where it was known as the Single-Rail Roller Coaster.

Construction

Track consists of two tubular steel rails, one above the other, connected by bracing. Supports are thin tubular steel posts. Cars are held on the track by wheels above, below and either side of the rails.

Other Information

  • An exciting ride, as the riders feel vulnerable sitting so high above the track. Corners have no banking, so be careful to avoid high lateral G's.
  • In both RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 and its sequel, each vehicle for the Steeplechase is listed as a separate ride type.
    • This is not the case in OpenRCT2, where its vehicles are now listed as vehicles for the same ride type.

In Real Life

Only one Steeplechase coaster is left in operation, which is at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

In 2018, S&S Worldwide revealed a new concept coaster of the same name, with redesigned trains.
