The Junior Coaster (RCT2/RCT3/Planet Coaster) or Steel Mini Roller Coaster (RCT1) is a type of roller coaster. Especially in RCT1, it is often available to be built at the beginning of the scenario, and is generally less expensive to build than other roller coaster types. |

*In RCT2, the steep slopes of the RCT1 Steel Mini Coaster and the Rocket Cars are not on the Junior Coaster. Rather, they are put onto a new design, the Mini Coaster, which can do steep drops, but can only run single-car trains. The maximum height of the Junior Roller Coaster is also lower than in RCT1. |

*OpenRCT2 restores steep slopes, the old maximum height and the reverse-incline launched shuttle mode on the Junior Roller Coaster. It also added support for importing track designs from RCT1, even with Rocket Cars. OpenRCT2 also supports boosters on this ride type, which were added in RCTC. |

This article is about the RCT2 and RCTC variety. For the RCT1 and OpenRCT2 variety, see Steel Mini Roller Coaster.
The Junior Coaster is a type of roller coaster. It is a cheap type of roller coaster that is generally available at the start of a scenario. It's intended to be used for gentle tracks, hence the name 'Junior Roller Coaster'. The vehicle designs are also kid-friendly, coming in shapes like ladybirds and pandas.
Construction
Track has steel running rails with cross-bracing. Supports are made of square section posts. Trains are held on the track by wheels above, below, and outside the running rails.
Special Track Elements
- Banked curves
- Helix
- Curved lift hill
- Booster (OpenRCT2 and RCTC only)
Constraints
- Maximum track slope - 25°
- Lift hill maximum slope - 25° (straight and curved)
- Maximum height above ground - 13 metres (65 feet)
