Flying Roller Coaster
For the Lay-down Roller Coaster, see here.
The Flying Roller Coaster is a roller coaster type introduced in RollerCoaster Tycoon 2.

Other Information
- The Flying Roller Coaster naturally has a high Nausea rating, rivaling those of the Suspended Swinging Coaster and Multi-Dimension Roller Coaster, so care should be taken to avoid including too many turns (especially helixes) on the track. As with the Inverted Roller Coaster, it is highly recommended to install benches, litter bins, and First Aid Rooms on and near the exit path of a Flying Roller Coaster. Having Handymen patrol the exit path is also ideal, as is keeping food and drink stalls far away from a Flying Roller Coaster.
- In comparison to the Lay-down Roller Coaster, the Flying Roller Coaster is more expensive and has slightly fewer options for inversions, but it has a higher excitement rating.
- Since OpenRCT2 v0.4.2 and v0.4.3, the Flying Roller Coaster now has more special track piece options, including quarter and large half loops, as well as boosters in both flying and laying-down positions.
- The Flying Roller Coaster received three new default track colour schemes in OpenRCT2 v0.4.2, each one based on a real-life flying roller coaster:
- Light blue, dark blue, icy blue (Manta at SeaWorld Orlando)
- Yellow, bright red, bright orange (Tatsu at Six Flags Magic Mountain pre-2021)
- Bordeaux red, bordeaux red, dark yellow (F.L.Y. at Phantasialand)
In Real Life
The Flying Roller Coaster is designed by Bolliger & Mabillard, with the most famous B&M Flying Coaster design being Superman: The Ultimate Flight, which operates at three Six Flags parks in the United States: Six Flags Over Georgia, Six Flags Great Adventure, and Six Flags Great America.
The boosters for the Flying Roller Coaster in the flying position were inspired by F.L.Y., a Vekoma flying launched roller coaster at Phantasialand in Brühl, Germany.
