Handyman

From RollerCoaster Tycoon Wiki Wiki, the RollerCoaster Tycoon encyclopedia that anyone can edit.

A Handyman or Janitor is a staff member for parks. They are used to clean paths, empty litter bins, mow grass and water the gardens.

Role

RollerCoaster Tycoon

In the original game, Handymen were typically similar looking to the average guest, only they had a white shirt with colored overalls on. They cost $35 per month. The default color was generally red, but other parks had the handymen in different colors and the color can be freely set by the player. Handymen are assigned to the following tasks:

  • Clean Paths
  • Empty Bins
  • Water Gardens
  • Mow Grass

The "mow grass" option is a nuisance to the average player; if the option is left checked in the "jobs" tab, then the handymen can disregard the paths and simply do nothing but mow the grass. This can have negative consequences if guests start complaining about disgusting paths and overflowing bins. So it's best to uncheck the box before the handyman is placed.[1]

The Handymen are typically called "Handyman X", with the X being replaced with a number.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 2

Handymen in RCT2 look identically alike the Handymen from the first game, but are priced differently: rather than being $35 per month, they are now $55 per month. They still retain the default color and look. Another significant change is that the "Mow Grass" option is unchecked per default, more than likely a response to user complaints.

Handymen in RCT3 are instead called Janitors. Instead of wearing a shirt and overalls, by default they wear a blue jumpsuit and cap and a yellow vest. The colors and design of this jumpsuit can be changed. They can preform three different tasks:

  • Sweep Paths
  • Empty Bins
  • Water Gardens

The “mow grass” option found in RCT1 and RCT2 was completely removed in RCT3.
