Hi Bodoc! I'll reply here for simplicity. Wiki Managers are indeed paid. However, admins and bureaucrats are purely voluntary positions. The process for adopting orphaned wikis is actually quite simple! Ensure that the none of the local admins have edited within the past 60 days (this can be done via Special:ListUsers/sysop), and then submitting a request here.
