Talk:Southern Sands
Does anybody know what exactly makes this scenario and Frightmare Hills so different from other scenarios? I have experienced by myself that both of them are quite hard, but I don't understand at all, why that is. I even tried looking with the savegame editor, but I don't find anything special there. - The scenario is set to make it more difficult to attract guests. This setting is also available in the Scenario Editor in RollerCoaster Tycoon 2. The high level of difficulty is deliberate. -- LostInRiverview talk · blog 23:53, February 14, 2012 (UTC)
- Ah, neither RCT Save Game Modifier nor RCT Explorer show any sign if this setting, so I started to wonder... The Save Game Modifier isn't going to be updated, is it? I'd send a e-mail, but the author didn't give his adress.
- Is there any way to find this out, next to experience, like editing with RCT2 (does that work?)? Are there other scenarios with that setting? I think such special settings (also: No Money used, No Ad allowed, ...) would be a helpful addition to the "Infobox Scenario". Sucinum 07:53, February 17, 2012 (UTC)
- Ok, I have found it out with the help of James Hughes. There are two settings in the RCT 2 scenario editor: "Park Rating higher difficultly" and "Guest attraction higher difficulty". There are also two Bits in RCT 1 scenarios which effects were unknown, Bit 12 and Bit 14, for details: Strategy planet. James Hughes has confirmed to me, I quote: "Bit 12 is set for Frightmare Hills(86), Southern Sands(91), Nevermore Park(93) and Venus Ponds(98). Bit 14 is set for Grand Glacier(80), Frightmare Hills(86), Thunder Rocks(87), Southern Sands(91), Urban Jungle(95) and Venus Ponds(98)." According to my experiences with those scenarios, Bit 14 has to be "Park Rating higher difficultly" (see: Grand Glaciers has the park rating setting) and Bit 12 has to be "Guest attraction higher difficulty". I have humbly asked James to update his great scenario editor, this will allow to use those settings and to check other scenarios. Also, it should be possible to confirm this with the RCT 2 editor.
