Sprightly Park - finished

This park's limited space, inefficient layout, untidy paths, old rides, and high loan interest make it one of the more challenging scenarios in Corkscrew Follies/Added Attractions. Cleaning up the park and making it profitable will be a difficult task and will require a sort of strategy unlike any you have likely used yet. The guide below will work for this scenario in both the original game and RCT Classic; any important differences will be noted.

To start, pause the game. Set your research funding to maximum and your priorities to thrill rides. You will want to switch your priorities to roller coasters once all available thrill rides have been researched, so keep that in mind for later.

Next, close the park and every attraction in it, making sure you fully reset each ride to get all guests off. This may seem counterproductive, but it serves a useful purpose. Because this park charges at the gate, you need to attract new guests constantly to make money, and the easiest way to do that at this point is to make room for them by driving the old guests out. Raise your gate fee to $40 and then do the following, reversing the first and second steps if playing in RCT Classic:

  1. Reassign your mechanics and hire at least 6 more handymen; more of the latter is better, but remember that money is tight. You may find it easier to simply fire your current mechanics and hire new ones, but assign one to Halitosis regardless and either let the others roam free or assign them to more limited areas. Hire one more if needed.
  2. Place "No Entry" banners around the park to block off sections and funnel guests toward the exit. It is at this point that you can and must unpause the game to build, but remember to pause the game whenever you are not building so that you do not waste any time in the scenario.
  3. Demolish the miniature railway, the cycle railways, the boat hire, and all of the existing flat rides and stalls. Do the same with any paths you do not plan on reusing at a later time. Use the space newly made available toward the park entrance to build several new flat rides and a Wooden Wild Mouse Roller Coaster, reworking the paths in the area if necessary. You should build at least one of each type of flat ride you have available at this point in that space, but you could possibly fit more.

Now comes the matter of dealing with Shooting Starr [sic] and Haunted Train. You may simply demolish them, but they are so well designed that they are worth rebuilding. You may wish to adjust the former upon rebuilding it so it takes up less space, but you more importantly should adjust the position of its queue and exit paths for better space usage. Adjusting the layout of Haunted Train could cause a crash, so be wary of doing so.

The rest of the scenario should be straightforward. Focus on making money to pay back your loan and fund your construction. Build plenty of roller coasters and other rides, balancing quality and quantity, and never let complaints go unaddressed. If the end of the third year approaches and you are falling short of the guest target, feel free to advertise.
