The fourth installment in the series, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3D has been officially announced recently. The game will be developed by n-Space and published by Atari. The legal section on the bottom of the official website also credits Chris Sawyer, so there is a possibility that he is working on the game as well. It was scheduled to be released around March 2012 in North America as Nintendo World reported.[1] But this date was missed and the release date was then set to May 22, 2012.[2] Unfortunately, the release date was further pushed back. Its current release date is now June 2012 in Australia and August 28, 2012 in the United States.[3][4]

It will feature a Coaster Creator and a Sandbox mode. Like in RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, the player will be able to ride the roller coaster he constructed.

On September 7th, 2011, a teaser trailer has been released, only confirming the year of release and the teams that are working on the game.
