RollerCoaster Tycoon 1 Tutorial
Overview
RollerCoaster Tycoon provides a simple tutorial, that teaches new players the basics of the game. The tutorial features the first park used in the game series, Forest Frontiers.
Tutorial Walkthrough
The tutorial does everything by itself, allowing the player to sit back and watch. In the tutorial, the game takes control of the cursor (though the player can take over control at any time by pressing a key or mouse button). Hovering over all of the used buttons to show the mouseover box, the tutorial constructs a Merry-Go-Round, and makes paths to its entrance and exit. Next, it builds a custom Steel Mini Roller Coaster, and shows how to remove trees while building it. Then the new roller coaster is tested, and the tutorial views its test data, then raises its price from $2.00 to $2.50. After that, a new mechanic is hired and the cursor sits idly while the roller coaster does its cycle. Finally, the tutorial cursor hovers to the menu and exits to the title screen.
The player is allowed to interfere the tutorial by moving the mouse a little bit. However, the control takeover is permanent, meaning that the player cannot give the control back to the tutorial. However, when done properly — right before the tutorial moves the cursor to exit the park — this can give the player a little headstart on Forest Frontiers.
