Hints and Tips

  • Adding scenery and water near rides increase their excitement rating. Knowing that for any ride, you can charge the ticket price to the ride's excitement rating, rounded down ; you have here an excellent reason to unleash your creativity.
  • Coasters that are very fast from first fall to station are generally too intense for most guests and are a waste of money. As a rule of thumb of coaster-building : make sure the train gets over the top of the hill at the lowest speed needed to make it over. More is less : more speed on hilltops : less excitement. Remember : on coasters such as the Air-Powered Coaster, this rule is mandatory.
  • Try to make your park as dense as possible. Having rides with tracks going near other rides dramatically increases the excitement rating, meaning you can charge more and earn more money. Guests will also spend more time (and money) the less time they spend walking.
  • An organized path system with logically laid out rides make it easier to navigate, keeps guests from getting lost, and keeps your park rating high. But most importantly : avoid the paths which ''hook'' back from the entrance. Guests will get lost there trying to reach the park exit...
  • Scenery near your Path Items reduces the likelihood of them being vandalized.
  • Long queue lines make the wait time longer and reduces the happiness of your guests. Make sure they do never have to wait more than 10 minutes. Especially for the Go-Karts.
  • Don't squeeze all your stalls in one area of your park, and leave the remainder deserted. Guests will only buy one drink, one food, or one item at a time. Food courts are useful when your park's crowded, but remember that the more stalls you have all around, the more you sell. The more you sell, the more money you make, and so can invest in new rides that will bring you more guests. This tip is great in every park, but in Paid-admission parks, this is the key principle between winning a scenario and losing it.
  • Raise the price of umbrellas to $20.00. Guests will buy them if it's raining regardless of the price.
  • Name sad guests Melanie Warn, then revert their name. They will have full happiness. Of course, this does not work on guests who are gritting their teeth and whose faces are red. (see cheat codes)
  • Create one-way paths by placing a sign, then choosing the "No entry" option.
  • If there is space available, making your line queue snake back and forth increases the amount of customers that can stand in the line. Try to create snaking queues instead of straight ones, but remember- customers don't like to wait for more than 10 minutes ! Keep that in sight when you see a full queue.
  • Place an information desk immediately at the entrance to your park, preferably on a spot where guest can come from all directions. Most guests will purchase a map and this helps to prevent guests from getting lost. Plus, when rain comes up, your guests will swarm in and pay an eyeball to get an umbrella.
  • On every park you play, make sure you make a 1$ profit out of any article you sell. Any article you sell for less than 1$ profit, is given away. There is no exception to this rule.
  • On parks where guest objectives are tight, do consider building a food court every time your park reaches 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000 guests, etc. Not only do you need to have stalls all around your park, you will also need massive sitting areas near them not only so they can eat, but also rest, refill their batteries and rejoice. But most importantly : use this tip to give some space to those guests who are still roaming...
  • When you build food courts and picnic places, do use guardrails to keep paths from blending together from all directions. Basically place the guardrails in both sides of the place where you do not want the paths to merge together, build the paths, then remove the guardrails before placing the benches/Bins/lights you want to place. This will multiply the spots you will have for benches, bins, lights and scenery.
  • When you build a roller-coaster (especially in RCT2), make sure to maximize its guest capacity : the more trains it runs and the longer they are, the more money you earn ! Make use of the brake sections to multiply the trains, use a long queue line to gather a lot of guests : everything that makes guests cross your ride's entrance by dozens is good !
