Overview

Thunder Rock stands in the middle of a desert and attracts many tourists - Use the available space to build rides to attract more people.

Thunder Rock is the last regular scenario in the original Roller Coaster Tycoon.

Thunder rock is a huge rock in the middle of a desert. A chairlift cycles between the entrance and the top. There is also a pathway leading up from the entrance. On the cliff face, there are a lot of opportunities to build underground tracked rides. The guests in this area are a bit low on cash compared to previous scenarios with $40-$60 on average.

Scenario Guide

Remember:
  • The Scenario Guide below is only a suggested strategy for completing this scenario—it may not work for all players.

  • There are usually multiple strategies to successfully completing a scenario; these can be discussed on the scenario's discussion page or written down in an existing or additional section of this article.

This is one of the only scenarios in the game where guests have a long walk to reach the rides, however this shouldn't be a big problem as there is also a chairlift. You might want to consider building roller coasters on top of the rock and smaller gentle rides around them or on the ground with some inventive paths.

Make sure that you have enough Handymen and Mechanics, charge rides at a high price to make money and ensure that if you are struggling to make guest numbers you can enforce marketing campaigns. Be aware that many guests don't have much money, so don't set your entry fee too high if you want to charge one, or they can't enter the park.

It is advisable to build a roller coaster in powered launch mode at the entrance as soon as possible. This way, guests won't get bored as easily on their long way to the top if they didn't take the chairlift. You can easily build most of it

into the rock so it will be considered underground and attract guests even during rain.

You could also delete the path on the rock and build a path AROUND the rock. Then you can build rides/attractions around and inside the rock. This way guests don't have to long walk to reach the rides. Though, building might be difficult. Choose the strategy you like best.
