Fun Facts

  • Theoretically,A land tile will hold 5 Guests. In practise, a tile can hold unlimited number of guests.
  • The dimensions of each land tile is a rectangle apporx. 10.5 x 10.5 feet [apporx. 12 sq. yds.]. For example, Arid Heights, 88 x 88 Tiles, has area of 851,840 sq. ft.. Divide 851840 by 7744 [88*88], it gives you 110 sq. ft. per tile. Square root of 110 is apporx. 10.5 ft.[confirmation needed]
  • An RCT1 land plot (with the exceptions of the Micro Park and Tiny Towers scenario) has 116 x 125 tiles [dimensions are 1,757 x 1,783 feet or 71.9 acres].

Water

Water comes in several colors (Rct2 only). They include Natural (the normal blue), Acid Green, Green, and Orange (to simulate lava).

Fun Facts

  • Atari released a patch for RCT2 that gives the player the choice to use pink water (only in scenarios made with scenario editor, with pink water selected as the water type). You can download it here
  • Water can only be placed on a flat surface, and must "fill" a hole at least one level deep. Open water rides (Boat Hire and Jet Skis), Lily, and Water Spouts can only be built on water. Large pools of water will attract migrating ducks. (Please note that in RollerCoaster Tycoon 2, the water spout and the lily can be placed on dry land.)
  • Water can increase a ride's excitement, especially if guests' feet are allowed to come close to its surface.
  • Guests can not swim unless Amazing Earl's Swimming Pool is used. Otherwise, they will drown unless you save them with the pincers.
  • Orange Water is the water other than normal that appears in RCT 1. It's used on alien landscapes as water, not lava.

Theories

  • Water beside a path provides a cooling effect on guests, reducing the possibility of guests becoming nauseous from the heat of a hot day.

Paths

In Rollercoaster Tycoon you have two types of paths. Queuing line paths and foothpaths. Their are also different types of structure for support when you build paths above ground.
